Favorite CM of Tamil Nadu – Kumaraswami Kamaraj

The Third Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 1954-1963, Kumaraswami Kamaraj (1903-1975) was widely known as the " Kingmaker ."   He founded the Indian National Congress and for four years, he was its president. The infrastructure of Tamil Nadu developed tremendously because of him and helping the economically weaker sections of society was also something he strived for. K.Kamaraj played a prominent role in the Indian Independence Movement at the early age of 18. He took part in the epic Salt Satyagraha Movement and as a result, he spent 2 years in jail. Later, India gained its independence when Kamaraj was 44 years old. Despite not having completed school, he provided free education for the poor after taking over as chief minister and the free Midday Meal Scheme was introduced by him as well. The Mid-day Meal focuses on improving nutrition in school children. The scheme achieves this by providing students with free lunches. At least 120,000,000 children are served
