What Skills Can Children Learn Through Pretend Play?

Since most of us are eager to watch our kids enjoy, many were eager to find out if the whole topic is of any relevance to their child. Whether it is cooking a meal with kitchen utensils or building their castle and living like a priest, it all lets their imagination run wild. This thing is definitely required for a child’s growth.

It is important for us to not think about all the time that is wasted but the lessons our kid is learning from this activity. Research shows that there is a release of certain hormones like oxytocin, dopamine that help children to bond with each other early on.


What impact does it have on our child?

·        As the imaginations run wild during play pretend, children get their creative juices flow which eventually helps them to know more about themselves at an early age. It lets them believe that what they fantasize about is possible. We being adults are not that much fond of dreaming, are we? In childhood, there is no substitute for the imagination that comes along while playing.

·       It is useful as it lets the child negotiate and adjust with the peers at an early age. Our education system is mostly about not teaching the lessons that we learn ourselves. Children learn a lot when they play with others.

·       It helps them to gain knowledge and skills. Leaning and development are enhanced when it comes to playing, be it kitchen play. They learn about the ingredients, what all the utensils are named as, the basic recipes of a dish, and whatnot. It also helps to bond with their parents as they value their work by actually living it. 

·       What we are not taught at school is what we learn by ourselves. Inducing some engaging techniques will help the children to raise their Emotional Quotient (EQ) which is necessary to live life to the fullest. Their interaction with other kids is enhanced through which they get to know about all the social needs. They learn to master their emotions at an early age.

Conclusion:

Nowadays as children are all caught up in their scheduled lives, parents need to consider the overall importance of learning new things, be it any game. Just allowing them to spend some time with the same age group may enhance different social qualities in our child.

It is much needed for them to get permission and engage themselves in the play pretend kitchen method and not always run for their homework. We need to allow them to even build a rocket out of paper. Could be the case that we also join them as this activity is a lot fulfilling than our expectations.
